Lohit and Anjaw battles nature’s fury
ITANAGAR, Mar 22: The water level of Lohit and Dehing River had risen by more than 2 metres in last 4 days. This sudden rise in water level was caused by heavy rainfall in catchment area of Lohit and Dehing River.
In Chongkham area, the flood water had forced the ferry service at Alubari to close down. At Namsai area about 3,000 population of Dharampur village, Rongalibeel village, Rajabeel and Lekang Miri village had been cut off from mainland after flood water breached an embankment constructed by villager on self help basis.
Mahadevpur town was hit by heavy hailstorm yesterday afternoon. The damages are being accessed.
ADC Namsai had reviewed the flood situation and instructed concern department to gear up to face flood problem in coming monsoon.
Heavy incessant downpour along with storm since March 19 in the district has disturbed the normal life of the people. Surface communication in between Tezu to Tinsukia via Pursuram and via Alubari Ghat and Tezu to Sunpura remains totally cut off.
Though the BRTF has restored the route between Tezu to Sunpura, and Tezu to Tinsukia via Pursuram temporarily, its longetivity will depend on the weather condition.

There was fifteen minutes heavy shelling of hailstorm in Wakro yesterday. Hailstones of 2 inch dia hit Wakro grounds from the sky. The storm was followed by a heavy downpour of rain. Many tress fell disrupting power supply while telephone, mobile and internet connectivity were affected for the whole day.
In Anjaw heavy torrential rains since the last three days have made the entire district a chain of island with heavy landslides at various places.
One house and the Primary School building at Chameliang village has been damaged completely by landslide and it is very likely that such incidents have occurred at various circles as the movement of people and vehicles have come to an abrupt standstill due to the natures fury.
The Community Health Centre at Hayuliang which was inundated with rain water has been cleared under the initiative of Dr S. Tayang, SMO and the general administration. The team had to battle the rain and the inundating water to save the stock of medicines which had been recently purchased under BADP. The extent of loss and damage of the medicines is yet to be reported.
Though the BRO has started its works of clearance and restoration works it is to be seen as to when and for how long man can battle the onslaught of nature’s fury, said Circle officer Hayuliang T R Tapu.

While hope runs high, one is let down by the communal clashes in Roing. It could have been avoided had the leaders from both communities and administration acted on time. Roing always had history of deep mistrust and intolerance between the two communities. No matter, what the bodies representing the two communities say regarding the present ongoing clashes, the ongoing conflict is a result of intolerance. One feels sorry for the two communities who have lived together for ages, yet do not miss a chance to indulge in activities which is destructive not only for themselves but for the whole state. The blame game has deepened further. It is not going to help anyone, more so the common people caught in the middle of it. Media will find a new fodder soon to fill the pages and communal clashes will be just another story. It is the communities who will have to learn to live with differences. They know what is best for them and it is about time, efforts are put in. Trust once broken is difficult to mend. But there is always a way out, more so when there is involvement of two communities. They have to figure out what suits them the best and move forward. Rest of Arunachal can only hope that peace is restored.

Major fire at Daporijo, 18 houses burnt down
Daporijo, Mar 22: The quiet evening hours were disrupted here today at Daporijo with 2 loud blasts of LPG cylinders when a massive fire accident occurred at the LC line, Sigin Colony, Daporijo. The fire started at around 05.30 pm and could be completely controlled only by 08.00 pm.
The fire completely gutted down 18 houses and partially damaged 29 nearby houses and 2 ALC barracks. A total of 101 families lost their houses including rental and all their worldly belongings in the fire.
There was also a loss of livestock in the fire. The fire destroyed approximately Rs. 80 lakhs worth of property.
The fire was so sudden and spread so swiftly that we could only save ourselves by running out of our houses, said Yamang Kodak, a victim of the fire.
I had built my house just 3 years ago spending about 6 lakhs and now I have nothing, she added, standing in between the ruins of her house near a burnt truck that contained the remnants of traditional ornaments and precious possessions of her family. Her family has just sat for evening tea, after returning from church at 5.00 pm, when the fire completely destroyed their SPT type house.
The fire not only destroyed property but also the dreams and aspirations of students living in the colony who were appearing for their board exams. Their books and uniforms were consumed by the fire along with their hopes and dreams.
All Janu Nekam Nayam & Negia Welfare Committee informed that all belongings of the affected families, including costly local ornaments, were lost in ashes in the mishap, which broke out at around 5.30 pm.
While appealing to the authorities concerned for providing immediate relief for the affected families, AJNNNWC also urged ministers and MLAs of Upper Subansiri district in particular to do the needful for their quick rehabilitation.
All Upper Subansiri District Students’ Union also strongly appealed to the authorities concerned of the district to provide compensation for the affected families. It also appealed to all to voluntarily come forward and extend helping hands to the affected families in this hour of crisis.

ITANAGAR, Mar 22: Communal conflict between Idus and Padams in Lower Dibang Valley has caused a new wave of internal displacement.
A wave of Internally Displaced People arrived here at Roing yesterday. All the families were given shelter at Rehko, the traditional ritual house of Idu Mishmis.
All Idu Mishmi Students Union (AIMSU) working in rehabilating the people could not confirm the number of people who have fled the villages of Idili and Ithili.
“Many of the families fleeing the area have taken shelter with their relatives at Roing,” said AIMSU President Malo Linggi.

The AdiSU, RGU welcomed the lifting of economic blockade by DASU and appealed them to work for greater interest of the people of the district. The union further said that the issue could have been solved at the initial stage if the district administration had act promptly in this regard.
The union urged the district administration to set up SIT to unearth the fact at the earliest and book the culprits and penalize them with exemplary punishments under the law of the land.

Govt to regulate land allotment system
ITANAGAR, Mar 22: Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu today said that the state Govt will introduce tough legislation in the next Assembly session in order to regulate the land allotment system in the state.
Chief Minister said this while responding to the private members’ resolution moved by MLA Punji Mara on the need of taking steps for introduction of land allotment system in the interior villages and areas which are not connected by the motorable road.
Stressing the need of streamlining land allotment system, the chief minister said that establishment of administrative headquarters should be approved only after the land for this purpose is properly notified.
Extreme political interference in Govt policy making causes concern, the chief minister said and appealed the all legislators cutting across the political line to cooperate with the Govt in its policy making for strict regulation of land in the state.
Participating at the discussion, MLA J K Panggeng expressed concern over rampant encroachment of Govt land in administrative headquarters of the state. There should be strict regulations to check land encroachment, Panggeng said and suggested that land should be provided for public utility service like establishment of hospital or any other welfare activities.
Govt should have proper record of land which have been donated by the people, said MLA Tapuk Taku, while Tani Loffa stressed on the need of proper demarcation of the land in CO, ADC and EAC headquarters.
Before opening a new administrative centre, Govt must ensure that land is properly demarcated, said Tapen Siga. Lamenting over the present land allotment system in the state, Siga said that before creating a new administrative circle, land should be properly demarcated.
Bamang Felix said that enactment of legislation will do no good, unless and until law enforcing authorities perform their duties with iron hand. We need to give more emphasis to strengthen the law enforcing agencies for proper implementation of law, he said.
There is no space even for building a Govt quarters, lamented MLA R Borang. ‘Most of the administrative headquarters are not notified’ he said while adding that there is no proper record of land donation.
There is no land holding system in the state and most of the lands are donated by public, said Padi Richo. Expressing concern over rampant encroachment of Govt land in every administrative headquarters, he suggested formation of mobile squad to check and prevent encroachment of Govt land. He further said that strict procedure should be maintained before allotment of land to any individual.
Participating in the discussion, Home Minister Tako Dabi said, any type of policy will not do much better without political will power. Govt agencies must be allowed to work as per established rules to streamline the land management, he said.
Dr Tangor Tapak emphasised on notification and demarcation of Govt land. There should be strict guidelines to the district land allotment board, he said.

A section of teaching fraternity justifies that the adaptation of such weird teaching method allows them to make the student comprehend better. If it was genuinely effectual then why the medium of instruction is not altered to suit the students or say, the teachers? For argument sake, still unofficially same method is followed, even than why the performance graph is not tracking the upward trend with every academic session. Given the facts, it can be said that in an English medium school, English has become an alien language or say is treated as a third language. The teaching community is apprehensive to divulge the fact that it’s their weak spot and they are more comfortable teaching in regional language than English. The teaching frailty is detrimentally impacting the students’ intelligence, perplexing and crippling their command on the subject that finally results into downfall of performance and excellence.
Of course, this generational error has been contributing to yield depressing upshots year after year but yet the steps to marginalize the error have not been adopted. The prevalence of such drawback in our education system has been responsible for the failure of any reform policies. In fact, educational excellence is an impossible target without exercising and including suitable teaching techniques.
Across the state, great percentage of government school students doesn’t know how to interact in English. Visit any classroom; you will know how they fear and stammer to communicate in English. Besides it, the comprehension standard, vocabulary level and writing skills of the students are also at its nadir. It’s not because they lack talent but it’s due to the flaws of our education system and teaching method. It is because of this reason that the priceless gems disappears without a glitter into oblivion.
Secondly, in rural areas, the initial phase of child’s elementary education commences at the door steps of Anganwadi’s. It is the most sensitive phase of child’s educational journey. Unfortunately, to shape up the educational growth of the posterity, the under metric and ill trained instructors, who are also a product of the same flawed system are enrolled.
In addition, scanning the rural region reveals that how such blemished structure has barricaded the literacy growth coercing the students to succumb early in their educational voyage, furthest survival point being matriculation or senior secondary. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, highly qualified and well trained instructors should be the only option to occupy the significant post that is the backbone of the entire education system.
I really fail to understand the real objectives of our education system, whether it is to simplify or intricate the learning process of the students? How do we succeed with an erroneous beginning? The paucity of quality in Anganwadi’s has suffocated our entire education system and in later part, the strange teaching method adopted by the erudite teachers only add more woes to the existing worries of the bewildered pupils.
Literally, looking at the complete scenario, it seems our education system has been on a suicidal mission of slaughtering the intellectuals of our future generation. But now, I believe, it is time to rectify the generational error; it is time to adopt result oriented reform policies and also it is time to abort that suicidal mission. Jamoh wins Gold in All India Karate Championship
ITANAGAR, Mar 22: P. Nobin Jomoh of Arunachal Pradesh won a Gold in ‘Champions of the Champions All India Karate Championship’ held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi from March 11 to 12.
Jamoh had beaten karatekas from CRPF, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and ITBP before striking the yellow metal.
The competition was organized by Seiko Kai Karate Do, India.
Altogether 15 players from Arunachal Pradesh took part in the Championship but none of them could won a medal barring Jamoh..
Prior to this, Jomoh had won a Silver medal in the IVth Nihon Shotokan Karatedo Championship held at Colombo, Sri Lanka from February 25 to 28 last.

INTUC, Arunachal warns Krishnamurthy
ITANAGAR, Mar 22: Indian National Trade Union Congress, Pradesh Branch Arunachal Pradesh in a letter to Amabati Krishnamurthy, today urged him to respect the High court order and restrain from holding the self proclaimed General Secretary of INTUC and stop appointing state president and secretaries particularly in the state of Arunachal Pradesh without knowing about the state and its people.
The Pradesh Unit alleged that Amabati is creating tensions and misunderstandings amongst the peace loving people of the Arunachal Pradesh by nullifying the Delhi High Court's order and thereby appointing Pradesh Branch executive member in his self proclaimed INTUC.
He is intentionally forming the rival INTUC in the state and thereby misleading the innocent and young people in the field. If any disturbance or violence occurs in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in this regard than Amabati Krishnamurthy will be held sole responsible for any untoward incidents, it added.
The Pradesh unit claimed that” it is well known fact that Dr. G. Sanjeeva Reddy, MP Rajya Sabha is the elected national president of INTUC. While, Padi Richo, Parliamentary Secretary Labour & Land Management is the State President of INTUC of Arunachal Pradesh, Jalley Sonam, Chairman Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board, is the State Working President and Changma Tajo is the Secretary General who were genuinely selected and appointed by elected National President of INTUC”

KHONSA, Mar 22: District Health Society Tirap conducted eight days training on Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illness at District hospital Khonsa from March 14.
The training was earlier formally inaugurated by DMO Lohit Dr S Ronya, on the first day. Speaking on the occasion he advised the trainees to percolate the skills and knowledge gained during the training to the beneficiaries and the needy.

NAMPHAI, Mar 22: As part of ‘Operation Sadbhavna Project’, the 18 Assam Rifles under the aegis of the 25 Sector Assam Rifles organized a free medical camp here today.
The medical team headed by Captain Sridevi Thapa RMO 18 AR, attended to 320 local people that included large contingent of women folks from Namphai II and neighboring villages.
It was found during the health screening that a large number of the people in the area are affected with skin diseases.
Captain Thapa advised the villagers to maintain personal hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation.
Earlier, the first women empowerment centre of the area constructed by the 18 AR under its military civic action was inaugurated by the 18 Assam Rifles Officiating Commandant Major KJ Saju on March 18 last.
The Centre was established near AMAYAA centre. A room was constructed adjacent to AMAYAA Centre which will be utilized as a class room for the women folk in the locality. Classes will be conducted for Sewing, Operation of Handloom machine etc.
Accordingly, five handloom machines, three sewing machines and two Raaz Handloom machines were procured under the Military Civic Action Project.
Considering the frequent power failures in the area, Solar lamps and Batteries have also been procured for the Centre.

The storm which continued for 17 hours in Itanagar area, also damaged 15 dwelling houses, two completely, at Nerba colony. House roofs were either blown away or damaged beyond repairing, the colony welfare committee informed in a release.
It appealed to the state government to extend assistance to the poor victims, who have lost their shelter to live in the natural calamity.

Earth Hour: A Campaign against Climate Change

Climate Change has become one of the challenging issues for the mankind in recent years. It has bought many challenges for the low lying countries as sea level is rising and many other things are happening which indicates towards a an unsustainable world. On the other hand individuals and organisations apart from international organisation and various governments are trying to combat climate change. There have been initiatives from around the world to combat climate change and making a green future. One of the largest initiatives or campaign in regard to environment or combating climate change is ‘Earth Hour’ which was started since 2007. This campaign has been organised by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). WWF's Earth Hour is a global campaign inspiring governments, businesses, communities and individuals to take a stand against climate change. It is the largest environment campaign in the history of our planet, successfully uniting the world towards taking collective action by switching off non essential lights for one hour in celebration of our planet.
Earth Hour was launched in Sydney, Australia in 2007, where 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour. Just a year later, Earth Hour reached 370 cities and towns in more than 35 countries across 18 time zones, and the campaign shifted from a 'Sydney Event' to a 'Global Sustainability Movement'. Since then, every year Earth Hour sets new standards and breaks its own records on mass participation and support. 2010 received participation from a record 1.3 billion individuals across 4616 cities in 128 countries globally. Notable landmarks like Acropolis in Greece, Eiffel Tower in Paris, Hiroshima Peace Gardens in Japan, and Pyramids in Egypt switched off in support.
India joined the Earth Hour movement in 2009, where 5 million Indians across 56 cities showed their support by switching off non essential lights and saving approximately 1000 MW of power in that one hour. Hundreds on educational institutions, 100 top public and private sector organizations, and governments of various cities participated. With support from all sections of the society, industry and government, Earth Hour in India reached new heights, with 2010 receiving participation from 6 million Indian across 128 cities. 600,000 students from different institutions and cities volunteered to spread the message of earth hour and increase outreach. 120 top private and public organizations participated. Well known buildings in 125 cities, banks, local cafes, official residence of Chief Ministers, and nation’s defence institutions like Indian Military Academy switched off in support.
Earth Hour continues to be a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community. A call to stand up, to show leadership and be responsible for our future. At 8:30 PM on 26 March 2011, the world will come together once again to switch off for an hour. This year onwards the organisers and participants are planning to move a step beyond the date and organise many other things for a long term. As it is important to take action to combat climate change so people are united and planned to move one step beyond the earth hour. Activities includes from clean up campaign to plantations and many other things. Its important for us to participate in this kind of activities as our small responsibility will help in a combating climate change. Training program on Rural Backyard Poultry Farming
Tezu, Mar 22: The Department of AH & Veterinary, in collaboration with the Agricultural Technology Management Agency(ATMA) conducted an inaugural training program on Rural Backyard Poultry Farming at District Poultry Farm, yesterday.
Started on the 21st, the training will continue for three days. Despite harsh weather condition in Tezu various beneficiaries from different parts of Lohit district attended the program.
and Project Director, ATMA C.M. Chaloo graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour. Other HoDs of the district also attended the inauguration session.
The Project Director, DRDA, Lohit, M. Tatung said that the beneficiaries should follow up the instructions and guidelines of the trainers to enhance chicken and egg production in rural areas. This is a very wise step on the part the Government as well the Veterinary Department of the district and we can reach milestone if the beneficiaries learn the technology of chicken rearing in the programme attentively, he said.
Dr. Hano Tama, DVO informed that this centrally sponsored scheme, Rural Backyard Poultry Development has been sanctioned for the first time covering entire Lohit district.
Through this project he said, “we are going to distribute improved varieties of
poultry birds to 6000 BPL families of our district to enhance meat and egg production.”

The Senior Officers of the particular areas have been nominated as Project Officers by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh by a notification and selection of beneficiaries have been done by them in consultation and recommendation of panchayat leaders.
In this project, day old chicks will be reared up to 30 days at Nursery known as Mother Units where necessary vaccination will be done. The chicks require a robust growth during initial initial period to perform well in backyard condition. Hence the skill enhancement of those entrepreneurs who undertake the nursery raising is prerequisite for success of the entire project.

The programme was conducted by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of the College, Dr. K. Rajendra Babu (Commerce) as the Programme Coordinator.
Describing the programme as one of the motivational, capacity building and personality development exercise for the students he differentiated the soft skills in the changing milieu of expansion of job market due to Liberalisation, Globalization and Privatization (LPG), the macroeconomic shift from secondary sector to tertiary sector, the enhanced complexities in work places like the increased emphasis on team work (teams often with multicultural team members), greater participation of women, superior benchmarks of quality and pace.
Ashok Kumar (Geography) spoke on Time Management Skills, Razzeko Dalley (English) oriented with Communication Skills, while Dr. J.K. Pattnaik (Political Science) with team Management Skills and stress management skills and Dr. Manish Sharma (Economics) with Etiquette and Manners. Before awarding the students with certificates of participation, a feedback was collected from the students about the programme in which they expressed the opinion that such programmes be conducted every year as soft skills training is not given in their academic curricular.

ITANAGAR, March 22: Oju Welfare Association (OWA), Naharlagun, has been implementing three Skill Development Programmes (SDP) on Weaving, Cutting & Tailoring and Beauty Culture & Health Care, that culminated on March 21.
In addition, two Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) on Imitation Jewellery and Jute Crafts were also conducted, which culminated on March 9.
The Programmes are sponsored by Khadi & Village Industries Commission, Itanagar.
During the common Valedictory Function for all the Programmes yesterday at its office premises at Naharlagun, A.P. Chobin, Assistant Director, KVIC Itanagar, encouraged the trainees to prepare themselves for availing the PMEGP scheme in future.

The training was sponsored by NABARD Itanagar regional office. Twenty farmers participated in the training programme. The training programme was on preparation of vermicompost in home scale, method of use and different advantages of vermicompost over chemical fertilizers.

State awardee dies
ITANAGAR: Nimachow Brothers Welfare Trust (NBWT) mourned the demise of Lt. Lisang Nimachow on March 16.
Lt. Lisang was a retired teacher and recipient of state award.
As an educator he served in the remote area of West Kameng. He is survived by his four sons and one daughter with many grand children.
The Trust prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
DC directs
ITANAGAR: Papum Pare (Yupia) deputy commissioner has directed all executing agencies who have constructed quarters, office buildings and other infrastructure at Yupia to hand over their completed buildings to the district administration and other department concerned by April 20 next. Failing to comply with the same will invite stern action as per law.
The DC observed that various executing agencies have constructed many quarters at Yupia town but most of these quarters have not yet been handed over to the district administration or the concerned departments which held up the process of quarter allotment to the Government staff.

Dear Editor,
I have been thinking about this for a little while now, about how different are behaviour traits in different countries, and how these traits vary by nationality. And how this has a bearing upon the manner in which different peoples respond to adversity, pursue goals, or even celebrate success.
All these thoughts came starkly to the fore when I saw how the Japanese have reacted to the triple whammy of the devastating gigantic earthquake, the killer tsunami, and now the radioactive fallout from the breakdown of the Fukushima nuclear reactor. The calm and stoicism of the Japanese in the face of such unprecedented national tragedy and personal loss is truly remarkable. And the courage, resilience and quiet dignity of ordinary men and women and the political leadership is inspirational.
This in a nation of such fractured politics, where the Prime Minister was on his way out just last week, where there have been 5 prime ministers or more over the past decade if I am correct, where fights often breakout in parliament. Yet the man and woman on the street have been disciplined and not let emotions run amok. And there have been no riots, no food fights, nor looting that seems to characterize catastrophes elsewhere in the world.
Contrast this with the reaction to death and adversity in the Arab world, with the
ritual beating of breasts and howling. Looting in response to disaster e.g. cyclone
Katrina in US and many other parts around the world. When we think of Indians however,
none of these traits spring to mind -

My brother died because no one came forward
Dear Editor,
This is regarding the reckless driving in the capital complex. Who dies, who lives does not matter at all for the reckless drivers.
On 14th march, I and my brother Lt. Miruk Bagbi of Taliha Circle from Upper Subansiri
were on way to Naharlagun, when suddenly a speeding truck from behind rammed our
two wheeler. Lt. Miruk Bagbi was the pillion rider. The tragic incident happened

But the so called responsible citizens there remained as mute spectators and no one came for help. I cried, yelled and pleaded at the passing traffic but none came to our help.
It was almost half an hour before I got a vehicle for my injured brother as I managed to hire a Tempo.
Struggling in the busy traffic of our capital complex, we managed to reach R.K.Mission Hospital. Doctors declared him brought dead.
What I want to ask the commoners and so called concerned citizen is that, why people are so casual in such matters? Is it not their responsibility to help the injured? The Govt. or the concerned authority won't hang them for helping an injured person crying for help.
The so called responsible citizens did not step forward and help the needy in such an emergency where one life could have been saved. Why?

Students and VIPS
Dear Editor,
It is unfortunate that the district administration of West Siang Aalo used force to evacuate general secretary of AAPSU from circuit house. At the same time, it is also important for the student leader to act as a student. Unfortunately in our state once the student leader is elected they suddenly became VIP and forget that they are a student. They try to avail the facilities available for on duty government officers and officials. The circuit house is not meant for any students or student leaders. If there is some special circumstance, they can stay with proper permission. But under the normal condition, just occupying the room for long period is not permissible even for government officers on duty.

Spare us the virus
Dear Editor,
Economists are optimistic that given the current growth rate and the expected growth rate of say,9% in the next decade India shall surpass the major economies of the globe and shall emerge as a world power. As a corollary to this, the state of Arunachal instead of galloping with the Indian economy is poised to chart a different growth rate. In this case I’m talking of the fast growth rate of the Unions/Societies/Organisations in our nascent state. We are achieving a staggering growth rate of the Unions in the state. If in the last decade it was already 8%,today we have a whopping growth rate of 50% in this field. I fail to comprehend what shall be the condition of our state when we achieve 100% growth rate in this particular field.
Today we have Unions in the name of tribe, ethnicity, state or region which is somehow acceptable but how do you explain to those Unions which are formed on the basis of street corners, backyards, class subjects etc etc. Tomorrow we may be forced to encounter Presidents and General Secretaries who are from All Arunachal Geography Students Union, Physics Students Union, Chemistry Students Union, Pol Science Students Union, Matric Fail Students Union etc etc. Not to be done with we may have Accident Victims Union too. With the spate of accidents we witness in our jampacked highways these days the formation of this Union is a foregone conclusion.
The Union formed after Bhopal Gas Tragedy shall pale into insignificance before our yet to be born Union. People of Arunachal, beware, at the rate we see the birth of Unions every alternate day you should thank our almighty that we don’t produce offsprings at this rate too. However if we were to catch up with this trend our mothers would have to give birth every six month defying the laws of nature, husbands may have to go for multiple marriages, school/college going sons have to be prodded to go for early marriage/forced marriage(either single or multiple) and not to be left behind legislature shall be made to make laws to circumbent the CCS Rules for some of our ever “rangeela” babus giving legitimacy to their already flourishing “affairs”.
Then the lucky Arunachalees having surpassed the population of China shall happily laugh all the way ahead with a look of contentment.
Our government instead of curbing the formation of Unions should now encourage the formation of ever increasing number of this new breed giving them a number of sops, concessions and subsidies. Though with such a high growth rate the day is not far when our economy shall be based on Unioninomics, different from Manmohanics or Keynes engulfing the very state which has encouraged its birth.

Alas, what could we do....we could either be part of it or out of it. Having no choice we have to be part of it and send our offsprings to Union Schools to get trained as future Union leaders. of course that is where the future of our offsprings shall be secure having not to worry about the source of income.
Then we shall be able to declare proudly before the broad masses that “look my son/daughter is the leader of such a Union”. Afterall at this age many of us do not have the opportunity to migrate to countries which are Unionfree. Even otherwise if a Unionfree country knows about the country of our origin they shall be bound to reject our Visa outright. As can be guessed, no any sane Unionfree country would ever want to import this dreaded Union virus to their beloved, peaceful and Union free country.
If ever the Almighty had walked on this planet Earth and had ever set foot on Arunachal Pradesh please Save Us from this Unionism, Union leaders and Union Virus.

The smart girl with a cause
Dear Editor,
Students reach out to Help Age India”, of March 21 under News Impact section provided very encouraging information. As is the case with any senior citizen, an incident or remark remind many other similar or related incidents.
This particular snippet reminded a very interesting incident which occurred sometime back. A few of us were gossiping in a Dabba.
Then a smart girl with student uniform (KPS) intruded our session. She was armed with a cash receipt foil and pen. She introduced herself and said she is collecting money on behalf of KPS to contribute towards the cause of senior citizens. We were skeptical of her intention. We didn’t out rightly refuse contributing to it but insisted whether the contributions will be judiciously channeled. She was persistent and refused to buy our argument. Finally she had to walk away empty handed. From this report it seems she was a genuine student from this institute who bothered to contribute towards a worthy cause. This is a very good initiative from this premier institute.
But such responsibility should have been entrusted in groups of students by the authority in which case we wouldn’t have cast aspersion to her sincere call. My gratitude to this institute and its young students who are doing selfless service; when majority of us are in pursuit of narrow personal goals.
We seem to be good at condemning all ills around us but lack the ability to appreciate good deeds. Hope if she gets to read this letter she will forgive us.
